Decision on Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting
The government has confirmed the framework for the new Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR), scheduled to commence in April 2019. SECR replaces the reporting element of the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, which ends next year. However, it will cover approximately 11,300 companies compared to just 4,000 that currently have to comply with the CRC. (more…)

ESOS Evaluation Report Points to Energy Efficiency Improvements
Four out of five organisations compliant with the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) reported some form of energy efficiency improvement in the 18 months to mid-2016. In addition, 82% of compliant companies who owned or leased vehicles reported implementing fuel efficiency improvements within the same period. (more…)

ESOS: Enforcement Notices Issued
The Environment Agency (EA) announced last week that 300 Enforcement Notices have been issued for non-compliance with Phase 1 of ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunities Scheme). The ESOS newsletter confirmed that out of 1,500 organisations that the EA thought might have qualified for the scheme but had failed to take part, 500 have been confirmed as qualifying. (more…)

ESOS Phase 2: Get Ready for the Compliance Deadline
For large companies that qualify for the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), now is the time to prepare for the next ESOS compliance deadline in 2019. Energy audits can take place at any point within the current compliance period, which runs from 2016 to 2019. By making a rolling assessment of buildings rather than waiting until the rush in 2019, companies can spread the costs and benefit from energy audits conducted at a stage to suit each site. (more…)
