Powering a country is not easy work. It may seem like a simple task for a relatively small country like the UK, but when you don’t have the landmass, or the right kind of geography, it can be complicated. (more…)
Electric vehicles may seem like a fad, but they’re not a novelty. In fact, the first is thought to have been devised in London in 1884 by British inventor, Thomas Parker. Their popularity spread from there, leading to a boon in the US vehicle market where, in 1900, more than a quarter of the 4,192 cars produced that year were electric. (more…)
The UK’s largest natural gas storage facility, Rough, will no longer be in operation following a decision by Centrica Storage (CSL).
The storage facility has been in function for more than 30 years, and now its “wells and facilities are at the end of their design life”. As a result, CSL has announced plans to close the facility.

When it comes to energy, we all know that we need it: electricity to power our homes and businesses and gas to heat them. But let’s face it, most of us couldn’t be bothered knowing all the ins and outs of the energy industry, and we may not even have the time to learn about it. And what happens when you don’t know something well enough? You risk making the wrong choice.

Whether that means going from shop to shop, looking through catalogues, or trawling through online retailers, you want to make sure your money is well spent. But what if you don’t know what it exactly is that you want, or worse off, need? Do you crave simplicity or would you rather have the works: SMART, Ultra HD, 3D capability, so big you need a whole wall for it?
Now, translate this to your gas and electricity contracts. There are no shops where you can go to benchmark the different options, no catalogue with full specifications or pictures. It’s a whole new ballgame.
